RIVER ELETEC Launches Novel KCRO-1409 Quartz Oscillator Product Line

The KCRO-1409 outperforms SAW, ATCut or MEMS oscillators by being the first ever to combine 5 femtoseconds of ultralow RMS phase jitter, a high fundamental frequency and tight stability over temperature. 



RIVER ELETEC CORPORATION (‘RIVER’) is now shipping the new KCRO-1409 (14.2 × 9.2 × 5.3 mm) quartz oscillator to leading customers in the clock and frequency generation industry.

This new crystal oscillator, available with output frequencies ranging from 500 MHz to 1 GHz, achieves excellent jitter performance by using the newly discovered OPAW-mode *1 KoT *2 cut resonator with its high Q value as the reference for the oscillator. The RMS phase jitter of 5 femtoseconds (typical) for the fixed frequency version and 7 femtoseconds (typical) for the voltage-controlled version are orders of magnitude lower than conventional “low-jitter” crystal oscillators. The uncompensated frequency accuracy over wide temperature ranges far surpasses that of oscillators using AT-cut quartz or MEMS resonators.

Applications include wireless base stations, optical communication modules, test instruments and satellite modems.

As data transmission rates and the frequency of operation of 5G and optical communication products continue to go higher, the RIVER KCRO-1409 oscillators will meet the industry demand for low phase noise and low jitter sources with tight stability over wide temperature ranges.
